Under the Sea

24 x 30”

I hope this painting speaks to you and brings out your wild. Wildflowers can’t be tamed, and neither can the girl with a spirit as boundless and free as the ocean. The interpretation of a painting often depends on an individual’s perspective, experiences and emotions. What do you see in this painting?

Do you see a siren - a mythical and enchanting figure luring a sailor with her song? Or perhaps you see an innocent mermaid dancing with sea life, reflecting purity and beauty? It’s the beauty of art that allows for varied and subjective understandings, making each interpretation valid and intriguing.

I’ve fallen in love with the mixed media process, painting from thin to thick. I started with a layer of acrylic inks and spray paint. Then I mapped out the shapes of my subjects with acrylic markers before filling in the shadows and highlights with strokes of acrylic paints. The last layer was made up of oil paints to bring out the richness in the colors and enhance the depth. This painting was finished with a protective varnish to last multiple lifetimes!

Please message me if this painting speaks to you!
